BAU: A set of copper tape lightning arrester worth RM4,000 was stolen from St Teresa Avila Catholic Church, Kampung Stenggang, and police are investigating the case.
Bau district police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said a report was lodged by a complainant, who is a supervisor of the maintenance work at the church, on Friday (June 26) at 8.41 am.
“On June 25 at about 10 am, the complainant was told by the maintenance workers at the church that a set of copper tape lightning arrester installed on the roof was cut and stolen by unknown individuals.
“The stolen item estimated to be 30 metres in length was worth RM4,000. The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft,” he said.
Police have investigated the scene at the church, record statements and are currently searching for the individuals involved.
