LIMBANG: The Limbang Waterfront is poised to become a new tourism draw in northern Sarawak once it is fully completed by early 2026.
Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail visited several ongoing development projects under the supervision of the Limbang District Council, including those implemented through the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) and people-centric initiatives.
A key highlight of his visit was the Limbang Waterfront Development Phases 1 and 2. In Phase 1, commercial spaces and kiosks have already been completed, including a dedicated facility named Eatery Park.
Dr Abdul Rahman stated that plans are in place to provide temporary parking facilities and business infrastructure to support both traders and visitors.
“We visited Phase 1 of the Limbang Waterfront where we’re looking into temporary parking arrangements and have reviewed the completed business premises in the area.
“In Phase 2, I was informed that 15 kiosks are already in operation by local traders.
“In fact, Phase 1 includes an embankment stretch currently under construction, which is expected to be completed by year-end. However, the commercial kiosks and premises are ready, with 14 stalls and one building named Eatery Park are now open for applications,” he told reporters following the site visit.
He encouraged over 500 traders registered with the Limbang District Council to seize the opportunity and utilise the facilities to offer a variety of food and local products to visitors.
The deputy minister also visited Padang Taman Desa Pabahanan, and announced that improvement works on the field would begin soon to ensure better sporting amenities for the local community.
He also visited the Dataran Bandar Limbang, where most of the development has been completed. He noted that there are plans to upgrade the District Council Field and develop a children’s playground to enhance family recreation facilities in the area.
