SRI AMAN: Lingga assemblywoman Dayang Noorazah Awang Sohor has pledged to cover a year’s rental costs for families who lost their homes in a fire at Kampung Tengah here.

She also delivered immediate aid and personally assessed the victims’ situation.

“I will fully cover their rental payments for one year — the first six months and the subsequent six months — to ensure their welfare is taken care of while waiting for the reconstruction of their homes,” she said.

She said this during her visit to the Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) at Dewan Seri Lemanak here today (Aug 4).

Dayang Noorazah said the initiative formed part of a collective responsibility to ensure affected residents were not left behind.

She also noted that discussions will be held with relevant agencies to outline a long-term recovery plan and determine additional support needed for the victims.
