SIBU: The Lions Club of Sibu Pahlawan (LCSP) has reinforced its growing international partnership with its sister club in China through a goodwill visit to Guangzhou, where its delegation attended the installation ceremony of the Guangdong LeShan Lions Club (GLLC)’s 2026–2027 Board of Directors, recently.
The visit, led by president-elect Boston Ho, underscored the longstanding friendship between the two Lions organisations and highlighted their shared commitment to community service, leadership development and cross-border collaboration.
Upon arrival, the Sibu delegation received a warm reception from GLLC’s members. The gathering provided an opportunity for both clubs to deepen mutual understanding and explore avenues for future cooperation, including membership exchange initiatives, joint humanitarian projects and leadership engagement programmes.
In a symbolic gesture of friendship, representatives from both clubs exchanged commemorative gifts, reflecting the enduring bond that has developed through years of international Lionism.
Speaking during the occasion, members of the LCSP’s delegation conveyed their congratulations to Chen Lu on assuming the GLLC’s presidency, together with the newly installed board members for the 2026–2027 term.
They expressed confidence that the new leadership team would continue to uphold the Lions movement’s guiding principle of “We Serve” while expanding charitable outreach and strengthening member participation in service activities that benefit local communities.
The delegation also acknowledged the efforts of outgoing leaders in fostering cooperation between the two clubs and creating opportunities for meaningful engagement beyond national borders.
Beyond the ceremonial proceedings, the visit served as an important platform for both organisations to exchange ideas on club governance, membership growth and sustainable community service models in an increasingly interconnected world.
Leaders from both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close relations through reciprocal visits, cultural exchanges and collaborative service projects, viewing such partnerships as a powerful way to promote friendship, understanding and volunteerism across different countries and cultures.
The engagement marks another milestone in the relationship between the LCSP and the GLLC, further strengthening a partnership built on shared values of service, fellowship and humanitarian action.
