SARATOK: A 27-year-old local man was arrested during special anti-drug operations conducted by the Saratok District Police Headquarters on Friday (June 5).

Saratok District Police Chief, DSP Mathew Manggie, said the arrest was made during Ops Tapis Khas carried out by the district’s special task force team in the Saratok area at about 6:00 pm.

He said the operations were conducted based on information received regarding suspected drug abuse activities.

“The team inspected the suspect, who was believed to be involved in drug abuse activities, before detaining him for further investigation.

“The suspect was subsequently taken to the Saratok Police Station, where a urine screening test was conducted.

“Initial test results showed that the suspect tested positive for benzodiazepines, amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said.

The suspect has a previous drug-related record under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 on April 6 this year.

The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug consumption.
