KUCHING: Police arrested a 36-year-old local man suspected of cable theft along Jalan BDC here on Thursday.
Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, said the suspect was detained while allegedly committing the offence with two other individuals, who remained at large.
“Checks showed the suspect has 13 previous criminal records while an initial urine screening test found him positive for drugs,” he said in a statement.
The case was being investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code, which provides for a jail term of up to two years, a fine, or both.
Police have urged anyone with information related to the case or suspicious individuals to contact investigating officer, Sergeant Asan Osman, at 019-867 5550, the Kuching District Police Headquarters Control Centre at 082-244444, or any nearby police station.
