KUCHING: Long Lellang Airport has been temporarily closed for commercial operations following the helicopter crash involving a Flying Doctor Service (FDS) team near Long Lellang.

AirBorneo said the closure affected two flights scheduled for today, with the services transferred to Friday (Sept 11).

The affected flights are MY3602 from Miri to Long Lellang and MY3603 from Long Lellang to Miri.

AirBorneo said the temporary arrangement was made as the relevant authorities carry out necessary investigations into the incident.

“We greatly appreciate your patience, understanding and cooperation as the relevant authorities carry out the necessary investigations,” it said in an announcement today.

The airline also conveyed its condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.

“Al-Fatihah and our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives,” it said.
