BINTULU: The Sarawak Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP Sarawak) reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the state’s land transport industry through an engagement session with the Sarawak Lorry Association, aimed at addressing issues affecting commercial vehicle operators.

The session, held at the SCS Scorecard Room, Bintulu Resident’s Office today, was chaired by LPKP Sarawak’s Chairman, Michael Kong Feng Nian.

The engagement served as a platform for discussions on strategic issues affecting the sustainability of the commercial trucking industry, while strengthening cooperation between the government and industry players to identify practical and sustainable solutions.

Representatives of the lorry associations also took the opportunity to raise concerns, submit proposals and share feedback received from industry players with LPKP Sarawak and JPJ Sarawak.

During the open dialogue session, both agencies provided clarification on matters relating to licensing, enforcement, regulatory compliance and operational issues faced by lorry operators.

While speaking at a session, Kong said LPKP Sarawak remains committed to adopting a consultative approach in formulating policies and initiatives for the commercial transport sector.

“Every view and proposal from industry players is important in helping the government formulate solutions that not only address current needs but also support Sarawak’s continued economic growth.

“LPKP Sarawak is committed to serving as a facilitator that listens, understands and acts in the best interests of the industry,” he said.

He also expressed appreciation to the Sarawak Lorry Association for its close cooperation with the board and hoped similar engagement sessions would continue to serve as an effective platform for strengthening strategic ties between the government and industry players.

According to LPKP Sarawak, the engagement reflects its ongoing commitment to ensuring challenges faced by the commercial transport industry receive due attention, in line with efforts to enhance a more efficient, safer and sustainable land transport system in Sarawak.
