LIMBANG: Malaysians of diverse races and religions must always remain firmly united and maintain the existing harmony.
According to a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), Deputy Minister of Rural Development Datuk Hasbi Habibollah said racial or religious issues should not be harped on as they could cause tension, anger and fight between races and destroy the harmony that existed today.
“Things related to unity, tolerance and harmony cannot be bought with money but all of that are important in our community life because we in Malaysia do not have a story of living in only one community especially in Sarawak.
“If you talk about the government, no one race can rule in this state, it must be shared with other races,” he said in his speech during the outright grant cheque presentation ceremony at Kampung Bunga Raya Hall here, recently.
During the event, the Limbang MP handed over outright grant cheques from the federal government amounting to RM505,000 to 159 recipients.
The recipients were the Parent and Teacher Associations (PTA) of secondary and primary schools, the Neighborhood Watch Areas (KRT) and churches or chapels.
