SELANGAU: Several major development projects are set to reshape this district’s landscape.
Tamin ADUN Christopher Gira Sambang said the scale of ongoing and planned developments are part of the government’s commitment to accelerating rural transformation and unlocking Selangau’s economic potential.
Among the projects are the construction of the Selangau Mini Sports Complex worth RM11.5 million, the construction of Sarawak government civil servants’ quarters worth RM48 million, the upgrading of Tepus Health Clinic worth RM7 million and Sekuau Clinic worth RM3 million.

In addition, the construction of the Selangau District Education Office worth RM3 million and SMK Selangau worth RM81 million are also among important projects to strengthen educational development in the area.
He said the Ulu Mukah Road project worth RM65 million and the Ulu Oya Road project worth RM200 million, which are currently in the tender process, are expected to begin construction by the end of this year.
“Under the Mid Rajang Regional Development Agency (MiRRDA) allocation, the government has also approved several strategic road projects, including the construction of the road from Rumah Sebeli to Rumah Emong Ulu Mukah worth RM175 million to improve rural access and facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce,” he added.
He said this in his speech when officiating the official opening of Lepapa Supermarket Selangau and Roxy Hotel Selangau here yesterday (May 15).
Meanwhile, on the opening, Gira described it as a clear evidence of the rapid development of Selangau as one of the new economic growth centres in rural Sarawak.
He said the investment made by the local company reflects investors’ confidence in the strong potential of the area.
“Previously, people saw Selangau as a transit area, but today we want the world to see Selangau as a future area and a rural economic growth centre that is modern and progressive,” he said.
