BAU: The Malaysian Government Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) hosted the Healthy and Harmonious Community Programme at Kampung Rumih on Saturday (Jan 31).
The initiative brought together multiple organisations including Mas Gading Community College (KKMG), Bau District’s Community Development Department (KEMAS), Bau District’s People’s Volunteer Corps (RELA) and Kampung Rumih Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).
Among those in attendance were Opar state assemblyman, Billy Sujang; Bau District Officer and MAKSAK Bau District Chairman, Eddy Nayoi; Bau District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Haide A. Rahman; KKMG Director, Khalid Husseine Tuah; Kampung Rumih headman, Noni Nyopis; various departmental heads and 38 KKMG students as volunteers.

The programme began with an aerobics session and briefing by MAKSAK Bau District Secretary, Aziana Hizazi, before continuing with gotong-royong activities involving painting work and cleaning the grounds of Tabika Kampung Rumih.
At the launching of the programme, Billy said it is an effective initiative to bridge the gap between civil servants, students and the local community, whilst strengthening healthy lifestyle practices in society.
“Through this approach, MAKSAK has successfully cultivated healthy community practices encompassing physical, mental, social, emotional aspects as well as societal values, thus producing a balanced and prosperous community,” he said in a press statement released by KKMG.
He added that the implementation of such programmes will be expanded to other areas in his constituency.
