MIRI: Police here have seized drugs worth more than RM630,000 and arrested a 33-year-old man in a crackdown on a suspected local distribution network.
The raids were carried out on April 5 in Desa Murni, Bandar Baru Permyjaya, following intelligence-led operations.
Miri District Police Chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the suspect, a local man, was detained during the first raid with about 150 grammes of drugs believed to be methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA).
Information obtained from the suspect led police to a second location at a house in Lorong Murni, where officers seized a further 3.37 kilogrammes of suspected MDMA.
The total haul, estimated at RM634,687.50, is believed to be capable of supplying more than 4,000 users.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Police said efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate.
The suspect remains in custody.
