MIRI: Police here arrested a man suspected of stealing power tools from a residential area in Kampung Pujut Padang Kerbau in a targeted operation carried out on Saturday.
The suspect was detained about 11 am during a raid at a house in Kampung Pujut Tanjung Batu. The operation was led by Miri Police Station chief ASP Goldy Jangan, assisted by officers from the Miri Central Police Station.
Police said the case involves the alleged theft of an angle grinder and a rivet gun. Both items were recovered during the arrest and seized as exhibits. Officers also confiscated clothing believed to have been worn by the suspect at the time of the incident.
The man is currently being held at the Miri Central Police Station lock-up to facilitate further investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code, which covers theft.
Police stressed that firm action would be taken against anyone involved in criminal activities and warned that offences against property would not be tolerated.
Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant, safeguard their belongings, and cooperate with the police by providing information on criminal or suspicious activities. Police said public cooperation remains critical in maintaining safety and public order in the district.
