BAU: Police here arrested a local man to facilitate investigations into the case of an elderly man who died after allegedly being beaten with a plastic chair.
Bau OCPD DSP Poge Nyaon said the 33-year-old suspect was detained around 10.10pm on Sept 4 after receiving a report from the victim’s niece around 5.55pm.
He added that the team also seized a plastic chair believed to be used to beat the 60-year-old victim.
“The complainant informed that her uncle was rushed to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) after he was beaten by another man in front of an eatery at Siniawan Villa.
“However, the hospital confirmed that the victim died while receiving treatment around 4.35pm yesterday,” he said.
The suspect is remanded until tomorrow to faciliate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said.
Poge assured that investigations will be carried out thoroughly and professionally and the case will be referred to the state prosecution office once it is finished.
