KUCHING: A man was found dead, believed to have fallen from a ship’s ladder, at the Sim Kheng Hong Port, Pending here on Monday (Jan 25).

District police chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani said the incident happened around 10.20am and a team from Bintawa police station was deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call.

The victim, 54, was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

He allegedly fell while climbing a ship’s ladder.                

Firefighters from the Tabuan Jaya station were also contacted to assist in retrieving the victim’s body from the scene.

The body was later handed over to the police to be taken to Sarawak General Hospital.

The case is classified as sudden death, and is still under investigation.
