MIRI: A 34-year-old man was detained on Sunday (Apr 25) for allegedly injuring an 11-year-old boy.

He was arrested at a house in Kampung Kuala Sibuti here at 10.06am to assist police in their probe into the case.

It is believed that the suspect was upset upon knowing that his three-year-old son had fallen down while playing outside the house on Saturday (Apr 24) with the victim.

The suspect has allegedly kicked the victim on his chest multiple times.

The victim’s sister immediately lodged a police report following the incident.

Miri police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari confirmed the arrest made when contacted.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons and Section 506 of the same code for criminal intimidation.
