MIRI: A 22-year-old man was killed after the car he was driving crossed into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming four-wheel-drive vehicle along the Miri-Bintulu Coastal Road near Bekenu on Wednesday night (Sept 9).
The crash occurred at about 8pm, according to Miri district police.
Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the victim was travelling from Batu Niah towards Miri when he apparently lost control of his car and entered the opposite lane.
His car was subsequently struck on its left rear section by a four-wheel-drive vehicle travelling from Bekenu towards Batu Niah.
The impact left the 22-year-old seriously injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene at about 8.26pm by medical personnel from Miri Hospital.

The 30-year-old driver of the four-wheel-drive vehicle sustained minor injuries in the collision.
Mohd Farhan said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which covers causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
