KUCHING: A local man was killed when a concrete wall collapsed on him while he was demolishing a storage unit at Jalan Tan Sri Ong Kee Hui here Monday (Feb 24).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) identified the victim as 27-year-old David Chin Zek Hong.
Firefighters from Padungan station were dispatched to the scene following an emergency call at 10.08am.
Upon arrival, they found Chin trapped beneath the rubble and immediately began rescue efforts.
Despite the swift response, paramedics confirmed that Chin had died at the scene.
His body was later handed over to the police for further action. It was reported that the tragedy occurred in the backyard of Chin’s house. He had attempted to tear down the storage unit when the concrete wall suddenly gave way, crushing him beneath its weight.
