BAU: A 26-year-old man was arrested by police here for suspected drug possession and abuse during an operation at Jalan Seringgok on Wednesday (Nov 5).
Bau police chief Supt Mohd Haide bin A. Rahman said the suspect was detained at 10 pm by the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) following an inspection at the roadside.
He said a search on the man led to the discovery of a medium-sized transparent plastic packet containing three smaller packets filled with crystalline substances believed to be syabu, weighing a total of 1.08 grams.
“The suspect was arrested under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possessing drugs,” Mohd Haide said in a statement.
He added the suspect’s urine test returned positive for drugs, leading to an additional charge under Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act.
Mohd Haide reminded the public that police will continue to take firm action against anyone involved in drug-related activities and urged those with information to contact the Bukit Aman NCID hotline at 012-208 7222 or the Sarawak NCID hotline at 017-592 9211.
