SIBU: An appreciation dinner was held at RH Hotel here on Saturday by organisers of the inaugural Sibu Marathon. Organi sed joint ly by Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) and Kuching Ci t y Jogger ’s Club (CJC),the September 16 marathon attracted more than 3,000 participants.
Speaking at the function, coorganiser of Visit Sibu Year (VSY) Wong Hie Ping said the inaugural Sibu Marathon is challenging for SMC as it is the first time the council is holding such an event.
“I would like to thank all those involved in making the event a success,” she said. “The participants were wellbehaved and the spectators along the marathon route very supportive,” she said.
Meanwhile, president of CJC and organiser of Sibu Marathon, Chan Boon Teck said the Sibu Marathon draws good feedback from the runners. “This is the first time CJC organises a marathon outside Kuching and it is an honour for us,” he said.
