KOTA KINABALU, Sabah: Maxim Malaysia marked the 69th National Day with a series of community activities across Sabah and Pahang throughout August.
The initiatives saw its partner-drivers, families and members of the public take part in National Month programmes, including the ‘Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang’ (KMJG) 2026 in Sabah.
According to a statement, the e-hailing company also carried out a community programme with the Tawau Association of the Deaf and participated in Pahang’s main Merdeka Parade in Kuantan.
In Sabah, Maxim joined the KMJG organised by the Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN) Sabah, beginning its journey in Kota Kinabalu on August 1.
The programme subsequently travelled through Penampang, Putatan, Papar, Tuaran, Sandakan, Tawau and Lahad Datu before returning to Kota Kinabalu for its final stop and Merdeka Parade on August 31.
Throughout the journey, activities were held at schools, community halls and local events, including awareness sessions, quizzes, community assistance and engagements with local communities.
Maxim Malaysia’s Director, Mohd Hazwan Musley, said participating in the programme allowed the company to engage more closely with communities while celebrating independence and unity.
“As a mobility provider serving communities across Sabah, we see this as an opportunity to come closer to the people while celebrating the spirit of independence and unity.
“Our contribution of ride promo codes to participants is a small way for us to support the journey and share the Merdeka spirit with the communities we serve,” he said.
JAPEN Sabah’s Director, Jainisah Mohd Noor, said the collaboration helped the department reach a wider section of the community despite Sabah’s geographical size.
She said the daily mobility provided by e-hailing vehicles offered an advantage in reaching people at the grassroots level while encouraging greater participation in National Month and Sabah Day celebrations.
Meanwhile, in Tawau, Maxim collaborated with the Tawau Association of the Deaf to provide school materials and educational supplies to 94 pupils from Primary One to Primary Six.
Maxim Malaysia Tawau’s Head, Rizwan Azwanshah, said the initiative reflected the company’s efforts to contribute to communities beyond providing transportation.
“Supporting these students in their education is one small way for us to show that we care and that their future matters to us,” he said.
In Kuantan, Maxim cars, partner-drivers and their family members also participated in Pahang’s main Merdeka Parade.
The participation held particular significance for the company as Kuantan was where Maxim began its Malaysian operations and completed its first order in 2019.
Maxim Kuantan’s Head, Muhammad Hasif Faiz, said the parade provided an opportunity for partner-drivers and their families to celebrate National Day while strengthening their connection with the local community.
“Events like this bring people from different backgrounds together, and we are happy to be part of an occasion that celebrates the spirit of unity and togetherness among Malaysians,” he said.
