KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) moved swiftly to address a sinkhole reported at Jalan Stampin Tengah on Saturday (May 9), underscoring the council’s continued emphasis on public safety and efficient service delivery.
MBKS said it received information regarding the sinkhole from a concerned member of the public at approximately 6.30 pm on May 9.
Upon receiving the report, the council immediately carried out temporary safety measures at the affected site, including the placement of safety tapes and a traffic cone to alert road users and ensure public safety.
Rectification works at the affected area are scheduled to be carried out on Monday to ensure the road is restored and safe for public use.
MBKS Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng expressed appreciation to the member of the public for promptly informing the council about the matter.
He said public cooperation and timely information shared by the community are important in helping MBKS respond quickly to issues affecting public safety and well-being.
“Such cooperation reflects the caring spirit of the people of Kuching South,” he said.
Wee added that MBKS remains committed to maintaining a safe, clean and well-managed city through continuous monitoring, prompt action and close cooperation with the community.
