SEMATAN: Two bedridden patients here received direct assistance and personal visits from Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, highlighting ongoing efforts to ensure vulnerable communities are not left behind.
Nancy visited Jamilah Abdullah, 74, at her home in Kampung Tanah Hitam before continuing a welfare call on Juana Hamdan, 55, who is living with thyroid complications.
The visits on Saturday took place after a community programme at Surau An-Nur Trusan Jaya, involving a gotong-royong and repainting activity, held under the ‘Mindness Tour Kaunseling Kasih PSSS’ initiative themed ‘Kamek Nengar, Kamek Nulong’.
She said continuous support for bedridden patients and their caregivers is essential to prevent them from feeling isolated while facing life’s challenges.
The visits also allowed authorities to assess the patients’ living conditions and identify follow-up assistance needed.
During the visits, Nancy, who is also Santubong Member of Parliament, presented RM500 in cash assistance to each patient.
Yayasan Kebajikan Negara (YKN) Chief Executive Officer, Nordina Haron, contributed an additional RM500 to every recipient.
Deputy Director of the Social Welfare Department (JKM), Mohd Ali Taib, who accompanied the delegation, also delivered immediate JKM assistance amounting to RM300.
The combined contributions are expected to help ease the families’ financial burden and support the patients’ daily needs.
The welfare visits underscored a broader commitment to compassionate outreach, ensuring that those most in need continue to receive attention, care and meaningful social support.
