MIRI: The Miri Chawan Association has long been a pillar of support in promoting Chinese culture and fostering unity within the local Chinese community.

During festive occasions such as Chinese New Year, the association is known for organising vibrant gatherings that provide an avenue for community members to strengthen their bonds.

Speaking at the association’s Chinese New Year gathering on Sunday (Feb 16), Minister for Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin lauded its efforts in bringing people together.

“These gatherings bring us closer, enhance mutual understanding and friendship, and further strengthen the cohesion of our community,” he said.

The evening’s gala dinner, attended by more than 500 guests, was a grand celebration of the Lunar New Year, offering an opportunity for attendees to exchange blessings, share joy, and reinforce their sense of togetherness.

“It is through the dedication and enthusiasm of the Miri Chawan Association’s members and friends that events like this can continue to flourish. They have become a highlight of the year, fostering the warmth and deep emotional ties within our community,” Lee added.

The association’s commitment to preserving and promoting Chinese culture continues to be a unifying force for the community, ensuring its rich heritage is celebrated and passed on to future generations.
