KUCHING: A ceremony at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) hall today (Feb 11) saw 408 civil servants honoured with the Loyal Service Medals (Pingat Perkhidmatan Setia) for their excellent service.
According to a report by TVS, the medal presentation was officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg during the 2026 Loyal Service Medal Presentation Ceremony for the Samarahan Division.
Recipients included civil servants from 18 departments and agencies in the Samarahan Division, comprising 14 state government departments and four federal government departments.
The Samarahan Division Resident, Mohamad Irwan Bahari Bujang, topped the list of recipients.
Other notable awardees included the Serian Division Resident, Caroline Cleophas Joseph (28 years of service); Director of the Veterinary Department, Datuk Dr Adrian Susin Ambud (32 years); and Director of the Sarawak Public Works Department, Datuk Dr Cassidy Morris (27 years).
The Sarawak Municipal Councils recorded the highest number of recipients, with three civil servants who have served 39 years, followed by the Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (two recipients), as well as the Land and Survey Department and Sarawak State Health Department (one recipient each).
The Loyal Service Medal is awarded to permanent civil servants who have served continuously for 20 years or a total of 25 years, demonstrating excellent service and endorsed by their respective department heads.
Also present at the event were the Sarawak State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and the Speaker of the Sarawak DUN, Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar.
