KOTA SAMARAHAN: A 25-year-old factory worker died while receiving treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) after losing control of his motorcycle and crashing into a road construction area along Jalan Datuk Mohd Musa here.
Acting Kota Samarahan police chief DSP Barry William said the victim, identified as Rodrick Samilie, lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the right side of the road, which was under construction, at about 11.30 pm on June 17.
“He was taken to the Sarawak Heart Centre before being referred to SGH, where he was pronounced dead at 5.01 pm on June 18,” he said in a statement.
Barry said the victim was riding a Suzuki FU150 motorcycle from Kuching towards Kota Samarahan when the accident occurred.
He said police investigations found that the rider was travelling along a straight stretch of road when he lost control of the motorcycle and veered off the road.
The victim suffered severe head injuries and was later certified dead while receiving treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
