SIBU: The Mowe Nation Festival 2026 continues to serve as a platform to strengthen bonds among the Mowe community while preserving family heritage and fostering unity among its members from across the globe.
The biennial gathering, which brought together nearly 200 members of the Mowe family, was further enhanced with a dinner graced by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, at Kingwood Hotel here on Saturday night (July 11).
The festival saw participation from Mowe family members from within and outside the country, including Australia and Mongolia, providing an opportunity for them to strengthen relationships, welcome new members and discuss the future direction of Mowe Nation.
Organising Committee Chairperson Patricia Mowe expressed her appreciation for the presence of Wan Junaidi and Fauziah, saying their attendance added significance to the festival and reflected valuable support towards the community’s efforts in promoting unity and preserving family heritage.
The dinner featured a welcoming address, an officiating ceremony by Wan Junaidi, as well as a special video presentation highlighting the history and previous Mowe Nation conventions.
Wan Junaidi and Fauziah welcomed the organisation of the festival, noting that gatherings such as these play an important role in strengthening ties within the Mowe community while contributing towards the harmony and unity of Sarawak’s diverse society.
