PUTRAJAYA: The Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cooperation with the federal government in advancing the state’s tourism sector.
The commitment was highlighted during an official visit by an MTCP delegation to Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry’s (MOTAC) Secretary-General, Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Sohot, in Putrajaya.
The delegation was led by Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), Datuk Seri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel, and MTCP’s Permanent Secretary, Morshidi Fredrick.
According to Abdullah, close cooperation and coordination between stakeholders remain important in ensuring tourism initiatives deliver meaningful benefits to communities, industry players and the wider economy.
He also stressed the importance of recognising Sarawak’s unique strengths in building a sustainable and competitive tourism ecosystem.
Among the matters discussed were Sarawak’s tourism assets, including its cultural heritage, biodiversity, indigenous traditions, creative industries and natural attractions.
The visit also reflected ongoing efforts by both MTCP and MOTAC to strengthen collaboration in developing tourism as a driver of economic growth, cultural preservation and sustainable development.
