MUKAH: The Mukah Raft Safari has strong potential to be promoted as a new tourism product to attract more visitors from outside the Mukah Division.

Tellian assemblyman Royston Valentine said such programmes provide an excellent platform to promote Mukah more comprehensively to the wider public.

According to him, Mukah’s unique features should be fully leveraged through activities that combine water sports and local heritage elements.

“This includes culture, traditional food and the uniqueness of water-based activities, which can subsequently be highlighted as new tourism products.

“I believe this programme is seen as a positive initial step towards strengthening Mukah’s identity as a community- and culture-based tourism destination,” he said when speaking at the prize-giving ceremony of the Mukah Raft Safari 2025 here recently.

Royston said the event not only serves as a platform for local residents but also attracts participation from outside the area.

He noted that the presence of tourists and external participants indirectly helps stimulate local economic activities around Mukah.

“Therefore, I hope that the organisation of this programme can be held annually and continued in the future.

“It should move in tandem with other major events already held in Mukah, such as Kaul Mukah, Mukah Regatta and the Mukah Food Festival,” he added.
