KAPIT: Sustaining development momentum in Pelagus requires leadership continuity, political stability and strong federal-state cooperation, particularly for the benefit of rural and longhouse communities.

Kapit MP Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said visible improvements had already taken place across the constituency under the leadership of Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang.

“Development in Pelagus has progressed aggressively, consistently and with clear direction since YB Wilson Nyabong Ijang was elected,” said Nanta after visiting Rh Sebelie Ngilai at Nanga Dap, Batang Rajang, here today (May 17).

Nanta, who is also Works Minister, said various initiatives had been implemented to improve infrastructure, connectivity, public facilities and the wellbeing of residents, particularly in rural and longhouse areas.

“This progress is not accidental. It is the result of committed leadership, strong teamwork and close cooperation between leaders at both federal and state levels.

“YB Wilson and I have been working closely to ensure every available opportunity, whether through federal or state resources, is fully utilised for the benefit of the people of Pelagus,” he said.

Nanta described Pelagus as a vast and challenging constituency requiring experienced leadership that understands local needs and is capable of delivering development effectively.

“Leadership in an area like Pelagus cannot be based on experiment, emotion or personal interest. It must be based on proven performance, trust and the ability to bring real development,” he said.

He stressed that a leadership team which had demonstrated commitment and delivered results should be maintained to avoid disrupting ongoing development efforts.

“The people of Pelagus need continuity, stability and effective representation. Any disruption to a team that is already delivering will only slow down the development momentum that has been built over the years,” he added.

Nanta also reaffirmed his commitment to continue working closely with Wilson as a federal-state team to bring further development, facilities and opportunities to the constituency.

He said the priority now was to preserve unity and maintain the strong momentum already established for the benefit of longhouse residents, rural communities and future generations.
