BAU: Plans are underway to establish three new villages and three new penghulus as part of efforts to strengthen local administration and better manage a growing population in the constiuency.
Deputy Transport Minister and Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the proposal is currently awaiting Cabinet approval, after which implementation will proceed.
“The rapid growth of the population in the Singai area, which has grown to approximately 18,000 residents, has led to the plan to create three new villages into more manageable groups of about 6,000 each.
“This is to ensure better coordination and administration, as the population has grown significantly,” he said after the closing ceremony of the BiSingai Townhall session here yesterday evening.
Henry said the formation of new villages, additional community leaders, including penghulus, will be appointed to oversee local affairs and improve service delivery at the grassroots level.
“With these new villages, there will be 17 villages in the Singai area.
“However, we are waiting for approval from the Cabinet. Once it is approved, we will proceed with it,” he said.
Henry noted that the expansion reflects ongoing development in the Tasik Biru constituency, where more than 10 new villages have emerged in recent years.
He added that strengthening administrative structures is crucial to ensure that development and public services can be effectively delivered to a growing and increasingly dispersed population.
