MIRI: A nine-year-old Kenyah girl drowned while swimming at Tanjong Lobang beach here Tuesday afternoon.
The incident was said to have happened at 12pm.
According to sources, prior to the incident, the Primary Three pupil, identifed as Sharon Keling Jude, had gone to the beach with her family for a day out together.
Sharon was reportedly swimming at a section of the beach when suddenly she was spotted having difficulties.
Her 44-year-old father had tried to reach her but the strong current carried her away.
A police report on the incident was lodged at Tanjong Lobang police station while Sharon’s body was taken to Miri hospital for a post mortem.
The case was classified as sudden death.
