SIBU: Preparations for the upcoming Asia Pacific Lions Leaders Summit 2026 are gathering momentum, with the Executive Organising Committee strengthening coordination and securing administrative support ahead of the prestigious international gathering next month.
As part of these efforts, the committee recently paid a courtesy visit to Sibu Resident Superi Awang Said.
The delegation was led by Organising Chairlady Datuk Betty Wong Yieng, who briefed the Resident on the latest developments and key programmes lined up for the summit, which will take place from July 17 to 19
The summit is expected to bring together Lions leaders, dignitaries and delegates from 19 countries and territories, making it one of the largest international service leadership events to be hosted in Sibu.
During the meeting, discussions centred on inter-agency cooperation, logistical coordination, and support from the Sibu Resident’s Office to ensure the smooth execution of the three-day programme.
Wong expressed appreciation for the Resident’s encouragement and support, describing close collaboration with government agencies as instrumental to the success of the summit.
Beyond fostering regional leadership and service collaboration, the summit will also provide an opportunity to showcase Sibu as a vibrant destination renowned for its multicultural harmony, warm hospitality and rich cultural heritage.
“Our organising committee is confident that with the strong backing of local authorities and stakeholders, the summit will leave a lasting impression on international delegates while further enhancing Sibu’s profile as a capable host for global events,” Wong added.
