SARATOK: Police have arrested a 46-year-old local man suspected of involvement in online gambling activities during an Op Dadu operation in Saratok on Sept 18.
Saratok district police chief DSP Mathew Manggie said the raid was conducted by a team from the district Narcotics Investigation Division, led by Insp Hendry.
“During the raid, the team apprehended the suspect who was found alone at the scene.
“The team also seized one red-coloured MI 6X mobile phone during the operation,” he said.
Mathew said initial investigations found that the suspect, a divorced labourer with no children, was using his mobile phone for online gambling when the raid was conducted.
A subsequent urine test returned negative for drugs.
He said the suspect had a previous police record involving a drug offence in 2020.
The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
