KUCHING: There will be no more leaking ceiling in the home of a retired marine policeman in Kampung Buntal here.
Abdul Rahman Lee. 72, said his family had been facing the leaking problem since five years ago.
“Whenever it rains, we have to place five to six basins to catch the water dripping from the ceiling.
“There are leaks everywhere — in the living room, in the bedroom,” he told reporters when receiving a visit by Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi on Monday (Nov 16).
His house was repaired under the Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Programme (PPRMS) recently.
“I am truly grateful to the state government, our Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, our Pantai Damai assemblyman and others for their assistance in solving our problem,” added Abdul Rahman.
He explained that the house was only built in 2005 and that leaking roofs were common in the coastal area.
“Metal structures such as spandex roof, etc, will rust easily when exposed to saltwater.
“There are 43 villages and housing areas in Pantai Damai constituency. At the most, three houses from each village can be repaired under the PPRMS every year,” said Abdul Rahman.
