KUCHING: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has confirmed that it has not received any membership application from Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How, despite recent speculation about his potential alignment with the party.
SUPP president and Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian dismissed the rumors, stating that See, an independent assemblyman, will soon be joining the party.
“He is not a member of SUPP, and why would he submit an application letter? Because as I said, at this point in time, we are happy to work closely together.
“We do not want to see the people in Batu Lintang state constituency to be deprived of the government’s development progress,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after officiating at tHe Spring Shopping Mall’s A Beary Joyful Christmas Tour here yesterday (Dec 5).
When asked about the possibility of See joining SUPP, Dr Sim clarified their relationship as a working partnership rather than a political alignment.
“He has been working with us for a while now, and we continue to work closely together,” he added.
He also reiterated Sarawak’s focus on major development goals by 2030 with inclusivity as a key priority.
“We do not want to leave anyone behind, and what is important is that nowadays, we do not hear people talk hot air anymore,” he added.
Reports suggest that rumors of See’s potential membership in SUPP have gained traction after his recent participation in a meeting with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and SUPP legislators at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex.
A photograph shared by Dr Sim on his Facebook showed See as the only non-SUPP member present at the meeting.
While these developments hint at a possible shift in See’s political alignment, it remains uncertain whether he will join SUPP or remain without party affiliation until the next state election, due by 2026.
