Norjihan takes over as orchid society patron

KUCHING: Dayang Norjihan, daughter of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has been appointed patron of the Sarawak Orchid Society (SARORSO), continuing the legacy of her late mother, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.

The appointment ceremony was held at Sri Pertiwi here following a courtesy call by SARORSO’s leadership led by chairman Tengku Dr Auvaroza Tengku Abraham.

The visit was to introduce the association’s vision and mission to Dayang Norjihan.

Discussions during the meeting highlighted the significance and potential of Sarawak orchids in various sectors including nursery research, exports, and downstream products such as food, cosmetics, and tea.

SARORSO also presented its ongoing community project in Kota Samarahan which focuses on the development of orchid-based products.
