MIRI: Three key positions, including the presidency, were retained uncontested during the biennial general meeting of the Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) today.
Chai Chon Chin of United Daily News defended his position as president for the 2025-2026 term, running unopposed.
Similarly, Andy Jong (Sin Chew Daily) retained his role as treasurer, with Arles Huang (See Hua Daily) continuing as assistant treasurer.
In a change of leadership, Claire Cinderella Kom was elected as vice president, replacing Rosemaria Buma.
Meanwhile, The Borneo Post journalist Jenifer Laeng was appointed as secretary, with Norliza Jau (RTM Miri) taking on the role of assistant secretary.
Nine representatives from various media organisations in Miri were appointed as committee members. They include Yong Siaw Chyang (See Hua Daily), Adum Liu (Utusan Sarawak), Margaret Ringgit (Sarawak Tribune), Michelle Choo Lee Nyuk (Sin Chew Daily), Colinna Radang (Suara Sarawak), Catherine Igang (RTM), Liu Li Mui (United Daily), Salasiah Safian (TVS), and Rosemaria Buma (Utusan Borneo).
The newly-elected committee will oversee the association’s activities and initiatives for the next two years, continuing its role in representing and supporting journalists in Northern Sarawak.
