One dead, two injured in early morning lorry crash in Sibu

SIBU: A 30-year-old man was killed and two others were injured after a fertiliser-laden lorry rear-ended a tanker at Jalan Julau Batu 12 here early this morning.

The victim was identified as Stanley Ali.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 12.04am on the crash.

A Bomba spokesperson said two lorry attendants were found trapped inside the cabin of the fertiliser lorry, while the driver managed to exit the vehicle with injuries.

One trapped victim was extricated alive and handed over to medical personnel, while the other was confirmed dead at the scene.

The deceased was later handed over to the police for further action.

The injured victims were identified as Schwarznegger Samuel Numpang, 30, and Maxwell Bernard Empam, 22.
