GEDONG: The Fun Run Gedong 2025 showcases the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy living as well as attracting economic activities among the locals.
The event, which started as early as 6:30 am on Saturday at Dewan Datuk Patinggi Ali Gedong, attracted more than 700 participants from various age groups, as they all took part in the five-kilometre run around Gedong area.
Adding a special touch to this year’s event were several unique food stations that have been set up along the running route, offering varieties of local, traditional delicacies such as cucur bauk, lemang Betawi, kuih bongkol, roti jala, kuih seri muka, and a wide selection of beverages.
Organising chairman, Maharthir Oyak, said the food stations were introduced as a new element in the Fun Run to promote traditional food and offer an unforgettable experience to participants.
“We want participants to enjoy not only the beautiful village atmosphere but also the delicious local heritage foods. This is also a way to introduce local culture to visitors from outside Gedong,” he said.
The Fun Run was officially flagged off by Batang Sadong Member of Parliament, Rodiyah Sapiee, together with the Special Representative of the Gedong assemblyman, Datuk Seri Naroden Majais.
Fun Run Gedong 2025 is one of the events lined up for the Second Edition of the Gedong Festival, which will be held from July 25 to 27.
Besides the run, the event was also enlivened with various side activities, including a group aerobics session and lucky draws, which received an enthusiastic response from participants and visitors.
