KUCHING: Sarawak participants will use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to develop websites to address business challenges faced by local companies during the Singapore-Sarawak Friendship AI Business Design Hackathon 2026 on Sept 3 and 4.
Organised by Angkatan Zaman Mansang (AZAM) Sarawak in collaboration with ANCHR AI Labs Singapore and Ibrandium, the two-day hackathon is open to participants, aged between 16 and 60, including students and entrepreneurs.
Participants will use Kimi AI during the competition, with API credits provided by the AI platform. No coding experience is required.
Ibrandium founder Afiq Khatem will conduct a training session on Sept 3 before participants begin developing their solutions.
AZAM Sarawak chief executive officer Ali Suhaili said the programme would give participants practical experience in using AI.
“Our young people should not have to observe these developments from a distance. They need opportunities to access the technology, understand it and, most importantly, use it,” he said.
Meanwhile, AZAM Sarawak manager of Strategic Communication, Media and Youth Relations Hassnal Hakim Junaidi said the collaboration would give participants access to AI technology while exposing them to its application in real-world business problems.
“It is not enough to simply talk about emerging technology. We want our participants to have the opportunity to access it, experiment with it and understand how it can be applied to real-world problems,” he said.
ANCHR AI Labs founder and chief executive officer Soh Wan Wei said participants would work on real market problems with guidance from mentors.
She said winners from the previous Singapore-Sarawak AI Friendship Design Hackathon would return this year as AI facilitators.
The hackathon is supported by Kimi AI, Women in Clode and Singapore Global Network, while AFFIN Bank is the venue sponsor.
The event will also launch the Singapore-Sarawak AI Youth Ambassador Network to maintain links between young people in Sarawak and Singapore.
