MIRI: The Miri City Council (MCC) Patrol Residents’ Committee has been awarded the Bronze Smart Community Award 2025 in recognition of its role in strengthening neighbourhood safety and community cooperation.

The award, organised by the Sarawak Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, was announced by Miri City Mayor, Adam Yii Siew Sang, during the 12th Ordinary Meeting of the MCC for 2025 today.

Yii said the recognition reflected the committee’s consistent efforts in promoting smart community practices, particularly through coordinated patrols and close collaboration with residents.

“The committee has played an important role in enhancing public confidence and encouraging community participation in keeping neighbourhoods safe,” he said.

According to the council, the patrol residents’ committee has contributed to improved community vigilance and a stronger sense of shared responsibility among residents, supporting the city’s broader smart and sustainable development agenda.

MCC expressed its appreciation to all patrol members and volunteers for their dedication and commitment, noting that the achievement would serve as motivation to further strengthen partnerships between the council and the community.

The council added that such initiatives were crucial in building a safer, smarter and more resilient Miri.
