KUCHING: Preparations for the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) convention are underway, with the central zone convention tentatively scheduled to be held on Jul 25.

The matter was discussed during a preparation meeting held at the PBB Sarawak headquarters along Jalan Bako recently.

PBB secretary-general Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi in a Facebook post on May 26 said the meeting was chaired by PBB deputy president and Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and focused on preparations for the convention at the zonal level, including coordination of work, venue arrangements and organisational matters.

He said the convention would be held in stages across four zones.

“Following the central zone convention on July 25, the Betong zone convention is tentatively scheduled for Aug 1, the northern zone on Aug 29 and the southern zone on Sept 12,” he said.

Nanta said the early planning would allow each zone to make proper preparations ahead of the convention, which is expected to gather party leaders and members from across Sarawak.

He also said the zonal conventions would also help strengthen coordination among party machinery while ensuring smoother organisation at all levels.

“As secretary-general of PBB, I am confident that the spirit of togetherness, organisational discipline and commitment of the entire party machinery will continue to be the party’s main strength in strengthening its struggle for the people and Sarawak,” he added.
