KUCHING: An accounts executive from Penang has won RM8.17 million after striking Magnum 4D Jackpot 1 with a set of self-picked numbers he had been playing consistently for the past few months.
The winner walked away with RM8,169,660 after matching the winning combination using numbers derived from his and his wife’s identity card (IC) numbers.
According to Magnum 4D, the number selection was inspired by advice from a Chinese fortune teller whom the couple had visited.
Following the advice, he chose numbers that held personal significance and continued playing the same combination in every draw.
The man said he initially thought he had won only a small prize when he scanned his ticket using the MyMagnum 4D app.
“I was completely shocked. At first, I thought it was just another small prize because I often use the MyMagnum 4D app to check my tickets. When I realised it was RM8.17 million, I kept checking the screen again and again to make sure I wasn’t dreaming,” he said.
He said the unexpected windfall left him too excited to sleep that night.
Despite becoming an instant millionaire, the winner said he has no plans to resign from his job.
Instead, he intends to settle his outstanding debts, take his wife on a holiday and allow her to retire comfortably while he continues working.
A Magnum 4D spokesperson congratulated the winner, noting that many customers choose numbers with personal significance.
