GEDONG: The second edition of Pesta Gedong is scheduled to be held from July 25 to 27.
According to Gedong District Officer, Tamida Da’adi, the festival is expected to be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“The second edition of Pesta Gedong aims to establish Gedong as the main regatta sports destination in Sarawak while also promoting local products, particularly handicrafts and agricultural produce such as fruits.
“Additionally, we hope this festival will position Gedong as an attractive domestic tourism destination in the Samarahan Division Tourism Calendar,” he said after chairing a meeting on the formation of the working committee for Pesta Gedong 2025 today.
The meeting was held to discuss the preparation of activities and the budget for each programme that will be organised.
Tamida also said that more than 20 exciting activities are expected to liven up the festival, including the regatta, battle of the band, pétanque competition, beremak pantey, batak lampung, and e-sports.
Pesta Gedong is also expected to strengthen Gedong’s position in the tourism sector and create business opportunities for the local community.
