KUCHING: The Petra Jaya Scouts wrapped up the Syawal celebrations with a lively Aidilfitri gathering that brought together members, leaders and the local community at the SK (Agama) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan Hall.
District Scout Commissioner, Mohd Hanapi Ahmad, said the event reflected the importance of strengthening camaraderie within the movement while fostering closer ties with the community.
Held on the final evening of Syawal, the gathering saw the hall filled with festive cheer as scouts and guests celebrated in a spirit of unity and togetherness.
According to a press statement, the programme featured a mix of cultural and entertainment segments, with participants singing classic Hari Raya songs and taking part in energetic dance performances.
Hanapi also expressed appreciation to Zasran Abdullah, Executive Secretary of the Scouts Association of Malaysia Sarawak Branch, for his presence and continued support towards local scouting initiatives.
“Such gatherings go beyond celebration, strengthening esprit de corps among scout leaders while promoting community-based scouting in Sarawak,” he said.
He added that the approach aims to expand participation beyond schools by encouraging stronger public engagement and support for the movement.
The evening also included prize presentations for competition winners, officiated by Zasran, followed by the distribution of duit raya to children.
The event concluded on a warm note, leaving participants with a renewed sense of unity and anticipation for future gatherings.
