BAU: Police are investigating two separate house break-in cases reported in the district, involving losses of more than RM2,800.
In the first incident, a 61-year-old farmer discovered that his farmhouse in Kampung Segong, Singai, had been broken into when he arrived at the property at about 9.15am on Thursday.
Bau district police chief Supt Mohd Haide A Rahman said the complainant found that the rear window of the house had been smashed.
“Upon inspecting the premises, he discovered several items missing, including a water tank, a drum, an aluminium ladder, two pieces of roofing sheets and an ironwood timber beam.
“The total loss was estimated at RM839,” he said in a statement.

Initial investigations revealed that the farm house is located in a secluded area surrounded by forest and is situated about two kilometres from the main road.
The nearest occupied building is a homestay located about 400 metres away.
It is believe the suspect gained entry by breaking the rear window before entering the house.
In a separate case reported later the same day, a 57-year-old assistant health officer discovered that his quarters at the Bau District Health Centre had been broken into.
“In this case, the complainant returned to the quarters at about 12.08pm on Friday (June 5) and found the front door and padlock damaged.
“Further inspection revealed that electrical wiring, switches and several household items had been removed, including six light fixtures, six power outlets, a printer and several damaged electrical appliances,” he said.
The estimated loss in the incident was around RM2,000.
Police investigations found that the single-storey wooden quarters had been left largely unoccupied after the complainant moved to a new residence due to safety concerns.
The quarters were only used occasionally as a resting place during workdays.
Investigators believe the suspect forced open the locked front door before removing electrical wiring, switches and other items from the premises.
No arrests have been made in either case, and both cases are being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and theft.
