SERIAN: A pre-Gawai Mass and a pre-Gawai celebration have been respectively held at St. James Chapel here and at Kampung Paon Gahat in the Serian District recently.
The Mass was celebrated by Rector of Serian Catholic Parish Fr. Paul Herry who was assisted by Fr. Pavulu Arockyara.
In the Mass, Rector Paul Herry urged the congregation to treasure and thank God for everything from Him.
He also announced that the Gawai celebration would be centralised in different Zones within the Parish and not at the main church as in the past.
Also present at the function were Mr. Dennis Sung, Mr. Alphonsus Naming, the members of the Parish Council, members of the Catholic Senior Citizens Fellowship (CSCF) and the parishioners from eight villages in Zone Ketup A of the Parish.
The 8 villages were Kampung Paon Gahat, Kampung Tong Nibong, Kampung Sungai Apin, Kampung Sungai Rimu, Kampung Kerait, Kampung Sumpas, Kampung Mpeza and Kampung Sungai Pauh.
