SARIKEI: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg joined the local Muslim community in performing Friday prayers at Masjid Al-Muttaqin here today.
He arrived at the mosque at about 12:35 pm before joining the congregation for the prayers.
Earlier, Sarawak Grand Imam, Sahibul Fadilah Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi, delivered the Friday sermon entitled ‘Mensyukuri Nikmat Pembangunan’ (Being Grateful for the Blessings of Development).
The Premier’s visit also provided an opportunity for him to spend time with the local community in a religious setting while strengthening ties with the people of Sarikei.
Following the prayers, Abang Johari took time to mingle and exchange greetings with members of the congregation and the local community before leaving the mosque.
