KUCHING: A district police chief in Sarawak is under investigation following allegations of sexual harassment involving a female subordinate officer, according to a report by Berita Harian.
The Malay daily reported that the victim lodged a police report, alleging she had been subjected to repeated acts of sexual harassment by the senior officer.
Sarawak Commissioner of Police (CP) Mohamad Zainal Abdullah confirmed that a report had been received and that investigations are ongoing.
“Investigations are being carried out under Section 354 of the Penal Code,” he said.
It is understood that the alleged incidents began last month after the female officer was assigned to the district police headquarters (IPD).
The victim also claimed that she had been invited to the officer’s residence before allegedly being sexually harassed, adding that similar incidents were also said to have taken place at the workplace.
